A zebra named Sero shocked residents in Seoul, South Korea, after escaping from a zoo and wandering through city streets. The unusual event quickly gained attention online as videos of the zebra spread across social media.
Sero, a 3-year-old zebra, escaped from his enclosure and traveled into nearby neighborhoods. Witnesses said they saw him calmly walking through narrow streets, near homes and small buildings. Many people were surprised and confused by the sight. Some stopped to take videos, while others kept their distance to stay safe.
Police and animal control officers were called to respond to the situation. They followed Sero carefully to prevent accidents, especially because cars and people were nearby. Officials worked slowly and quietly so they would not scare the zebra. After some time, trained staff were able to safely capture him and return him to the zoo without any injuries.
Zoo officials later explained that Sero has had a difficult past. He lost both of his parents when he was younger, which may have caused him to feel lonely. Workers tried placing him near other animals, including kangaroos, but he still showed signs of stress and unusual behavior.
Animal experts say that when animals feel lonely or stressed, they may act out or try to escape. This may explain why Sero left his enclosure.
No one was hurt, and no serious damage was reported during the incident. The zoo is now reviewing its safety rules and enclosures to make sure something like this does not happen again.
This is not the first time an animal has escaped in South Korea, but it is very rare, especially in a busy city like Seoul. In the past, there have been a few cases where zoo animals or farm animals got loose, but they usually happened in smaller areas and were handled quickly. What made Sero’s escape different was how far he traveled and how many people saw him in such a crowded city. Because of this, the situation gained more attention than most animal escape cases in Korea.
While the situation caused concern, many people also found it interesting to see a zebra walking through a busy city.
