In Knoxville, Tennessee while people were headed on the East Tennessee interstate traffic became bumper to bumper and the reason will shock you.
Chaos swarmed around all of Tennessee after a truck carrying 1 million bees crashed on Friday. The truck was carrying thousands of honeybees. The bees began to swarm all over and caused huge issues on interstate I-40 East to Hensley Street in Knoxville. Mark Nagi, a Tennessee Department of Transportation regional spokesperson said there was no major injuries and everyone was safe. The truck driver only sustained minor injuries and was able to exit the vehicle. The truck was completely destroyed and the some bees managed to escape. The ramp was temporarily closed by authorities in order to clean up the truck and gather the bees.
The crash occurred in the morning. The cause is from the driver of a flatbed truck containing the commercial bee boxes loose control. He veered off the road in order to not run into any other cars. The impact shattered several hives, releasing thousand’s of disoriented bees into the cool morning air. authorities say that when entering the scene you could hear all the bees before even seeing them.
The authorities called in local beekeepers to help contain the insects. They used smoke and replacement hive boxes to lure the surviving bees nearby and get them off the roadway.
The ramp reopened in Knoxville was closed for several hours and caused significantly long traffic lines. By midday friday once all the bees were moved and the truck as well from the area. Authorities posted some caution signs to ensure safety.
In a 2018 crash in Virginia something similar happened. This happened on interstate 495 when a crash with a truck caused the release of a swarm of bees into the public. This caused many people to have to shut off their ac vents and roll up all their windows.
