Holy Family’s cheerleading team has a new coach. This past week, they welcomed the new head coach, Gina Harris. She has 9 state titles, 4 state runners-up, and 1 NCA national title. She has also been the CHSAA Coach of the Year twice and the 2025 CHSAA Coach of the Year.
After bringing home five consecutive state titles and one national title with Denver Christian High School, God called Coach Harris to Holy Family. This past season, she assisted the cheerleading team with its game-day routine. She has coached for 30 years and plays a special role in the Holy Family cheer legacy. Her grandmother started the cheerleading team in the 1940s.
A Holy Family cheer senior said, ” I am so excited that she is coming to coach us. She is gonna help this team go a lot further at state this year. She has already helped us work harder on our basics. And she is gonna help us get more tumbling skills and hopefully lead us to a state title. As a senior, I dreamed of my senior year being amazing, and I know with Coach Harris by our side, she will make my senior season better than I could have dreamed of.”
Coach Harris is the head of Cheer Coach Academy. Cheer Coach Academy is a website that provides training and support for cheer coaches. It has courses on how to coach, stunt, and support your athletes. Coach Harris has spent years working with teams to reach their full potential.
Coach Harris teaches one big thing: to radiate God’s love. No matter how hard you train, at the end of the day when you hit the mat your job is to radiate God in all that you do. Coach Harris says that in all of her teams the judges have noticed something different about them, that different things is the grace of God. All of her big wins are all because of God’s love.
Coach Harris brings something new to the Holy Family cheer team. I am so excited to see where she takes this team.
