A little after midnight on July 8, 2025 the quiet atmosphere of an Ocala Taco Bell shattered when a man climbed through the drive‑thru window holding a large rock. According to employees, 40‑year‑old Kewarren Lee Anderson slipped inside the restaurant around 12:30 a.m., demanded money, and chased terrified workers out of the building. Workers immediately called the police in a panic, not knowing if the man that had just crawled through the window was going to hurt anyone.
Officers from the Ocala Police Department arrived within minutes. A K‑9 unit was brought in and picked up Anderson’s scent and followed it across the parking lot to a dumpster behind the restaurant. Body camera footage later released by the police department shows the dog lunging toward the guy, ending the search almost as soon as it began. Anderson was taken into custody immediately and was treated for injuries from the apprehension before being booked into the Marion County Jail on an armed robbery charge. His bond was set at $50,000, and he waited for his court date scheduled for August 12.
But the incident didn’t end there. Just hours after his arrest, while being held in a medical pod at the jail, Anderson got into a physical fight with another person who was being held at the jail. That altercation led to an additional charge: battery by a person in a detention facility. Prosecutors pursued both cases, and Anderson was eventually found guilty on both counts.
On January 22, 2026, a judge sentenced Anderson to four years in the Florida Department of Corrections. He received credit for the 199 days he had already served, but the sentence reflected both the Taco Bell robbery, and the fight in the jail that followed. What began as a chaotic late‑night break‑in ended with a prison term. From a drive‑thru window to a dumpster, and finally, to a courtroom.
