Just recently famous rapper, fashion icon, and alleged felon dropped his 4th studio album titled “Don’t Be Dumb.” This is a very anticipated album as his last album was almost a decade ago. A$AP said this album was finished back in 2022 but some controversial allegations rolled Rocky’s regarding him firing shots at one of his friends. After a long trial he was found not guilty and many fans hoped the album would drop soon after. However, Rocky delayed the album time and time again and when this release date for January 16th dropped many people were not hopeful. But, against all odds the album dropped.
Some Highlights:
- Helicopter – synth heavy track that is fast paced with slick lyrics, great way to start the record out
- Stay here 4 life – melodic hook from Brent Faiyaz is a big highlight. His voice is angelic and pairs very well with Rocky’s laid back flow making it the best track on the album
- Stole ya flow – another synth beat and gives us a glimpse to Rocky’s old style
- Don’t be dumb – a laid back beat at first but transforms into a very unique sound that Rocky flows effortlessly on.
This album was a solid 7 at best. This album had too much hype surrounding it because of the long wait and people were expecting it to be top in the genre. Too many inconsistencies around the mid way point knee capped this record from flourishing to its full potential. During this production process, you could tell Rocky was sober as it did not match his previous albums. However, an album for the first time in 8 years is something to keep us satiated for now.
