Rebecca Park, 22-year-old Michigan woman went missing on November 3rd. She is a 38-week pregnant mother. Three weeks and one day later, on November 25th, she was found stabbed to dead in a national forest with her baby ripped out of her, nowhere to be found. Police arrested Rebecca’s mother and stepdad in suspicion of murder. They are charged with first degree murder, torture, felony murder, conspiracy to torture, assault of a pregnant woman, and unlawful imprisonment. They are looking at many years if they are found guilty.
Police have made a conspiracy story to the story. Police say that they lured their daughter to their home, put her into a truck, and drove her into the woods where they proceeded to torture Rebecca Park. They were attempting to take the baby from her and unfortunately, the attempt led to both of their deaths.
Something else that’s crazy about this story is that the birth mom, Courtney, spoke to a true crime podcast when Rebecca had been reported missing. In the podcast, she told the podcaster, Stephanie, that she had planned to visit her daughter to give her daughter money that she had made from selling land. It is believed that this was what was told to Rebecca in order to lure her to her death. A voicemail Rebecca had left a friend was rediscovered where Rebecca mentions how her mom was supposed to give her the money and they were going to go out for shakes. After Rebecca was found slaughtered, her mom Courtney went on the podcast again. This time she told podcaster Stephanie that it was her other daughter, Kimberly, who was responsible for her daughter’s death, along with her fiance, Rich. Courtney, when asked if she believed if the baby was still alive, replied with a short silence and then a quiet, “I hope so”. Throughout the entire podcast episode, Courtney had many long pauses before responses, making her seem less reliable. Rebecca’s sister was charged with lying to police and tampering with evidence. Richard Fowler, Kimberly’s fiance was charged with drug crimes.
Amid all of the drama in this case, Courtney’s mom and the stepdad go back and forth blaming each other, letting pieces of the story slip. Even though there is limited information in this case, we can assume that Courtney’s mother, stepdad, and partially her sister, have something to do with her tragic death.
