Football is a very physically and mentally challenging sport. Although this is true, there are some positions that are easier than others. Some positions in football require a different set of skills, which are just naturally easier to develop than the skills that are needed to play harder positions on the field. This story isn’t to say that certain positions in football just aren’t as “good” as others; this article is a subjective opinion on which positions are the hardest to play on the football field
5. D-Linemen
D-linemen have a very important and very physical position to play on the football field. It requires speed, immense strength, and incredible endurance to be able to break through the offensive line and put pressure on the quarterback. The difference between good and great teams is how well their defensive line can break through the O-line.
4. Linebacker
The Linebacker is essentially the quarterback on defense. They have to not only know every defense package their team has, but they also have to be able to recognize offensive formations, so they can command the defense to line up accordingly. Not only is this position a mental challenge, but they also have to be extremely physical and strong to be able to stop the running back
3. Left Tackle
The Left Tackle is the most important position to play on the O-line. Not only is the O-line an extremely difficult position to play, but the left tackle has more responsibility than the rest. This is because the left tackle is in charge of protecting the quarterback’s blind side. While the quarterback is throwing the ball, the left tackle has to make sure that no one rushes to him and takes him out
2. Cornerback
If the quarterback didn’t touch the ball every play, this would be the hardest position to play in football by far. If we’re just talking about coverage, the corner starts at a major disadvantage every single play. They can’t let the receiver gain even a couple of feet because that means they will be open for a pass. Not only does their coverage have to be good, but they also have to be able to tackle and maintain the outside
1. Quarterback
The hardest position in all of football has to be the quarterback. The quarterback is in charge of running the entire offense, which means they have to know every single play and who is doing what on every single play. They have to be extremely accurate and incredibly athletic to be able to run. They also have to know defenses extremely well. They touch the ball every play, so by nature, this is the hardest position to play in all of football.
