With the Masters coming up this week and the par three contest having come to a close, the excitement is growing each hour. For the first time, Rory McIlory will be driving down Magnolia Lane sporting a Green Jacket after a dramatic win at Augusta last yeart. This time last year, Rory won with a 4-foot birdie putt to put down his opponent, Justin Rose, in the first playoff hole.
“No, this is going to be the first time I drive down Magnolia Lane, and it’s all going to be about enjoying my week,” McIlroy said. “You know, enjoying the perks that come along with being a Masters champion: having a parking space in the champions’ car park to using the champions’ locker room. You know, hosting the dinner on Tuesday night.
“The thing is, I know I get to go back to the Masters Tournament for the rest of my life, and that’s quite a freeing feeling.” (ESPN)
Can Rory put on another green jacket? Or will Scottie Scheffler find a rhythm and put on a third green jacket in the past five years? Or maybe a LIV Golfer comes on top like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
The clear favorite is Scheffler, the world’s Number 1 Golfer. He has been trying to figure out the driver he will be using during the Masters. With Taylor Made dropping the QI4D, you would think it would be a clear choice, but not for Scottie. He apparently went back to the older model, the QI10. Scottie is -101 under par in his major championship career.
Another favorite golfer is DeChambeau. Bryson won the last two events on the LIV tour and is playing the best golf in the last month. He finished tied for fifth with 7-under par. Bryson has been preparing for the Masters, as shown on his YouTube channel. He played at the Texarkana Country Club (the best course to play to prepare for the Master’s) and shot 3 under par. Bryson has unfinished business with Augusta National.
