The Holy Family High School girls’ soccer team has officially started its season. Their first game took place on March 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Field against D’Evelyn High School. Going into the match, expectations for the team were fairly low, as D’Evelyn had finished fourth in their division last year. However, Holy Family came out with impressive speed and intensity, keeping D’Evelyn on their toes throughout the entire game.
At halftime, the score remained 0–0, although the Holy Family girls had created several strong scoring opportunities but were unable to finish them. Early in the second half, D’Evelyn scored first, taking a 1–0 lead. Despite that, the Holy Family team stayed focused and quickly responded with a goal of their own, tying the game 1–1. The match ended in a 1–1 tie, which was an amazing result for the Holy Family girls against a tough opponent.
Last night, the team played their first home game of the season against Stargate High School, the same team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year, in the second round. The game began with high intensity and pace, as Holy Family applied constant pressure on the Stargate defense and goalkeeper. It was another hard-fought match, with the first half ending 0–0 once again, despite several scoring chances for Holy Family.
The second half started with more pressure from Holy Family, including back-to-back corner kicks and multiple opportunities on goal. Holy Family eventually broke through with the first goal after a beautiful cross into the center of the box was finished with a well-placed shot on the ground. The game remained competitive as both teams battled for control.
With about 15 minutes remaining, senior Paige Brown scored an incredible long-distance shot, giving Holy Family a 2–0 lead. Stargate responded with a goal with about eight minutes left, increasing the pressure late in the game. However, Holy Family held strong and secured their first win of the season—and their first victory on their home field.
On Thursday, March 12th, at Holy Family at 4:00. Going into the game, the girls knew it was going to be a hard-fought game, seeing as last year, when playing JA, they had lost 2-0. The first half ended with the score being 0-0, with both teams fighting hard to score. In the second half, about halfway through, Senior Paige Brown scored another amazing shot, putting the Tigers up 1-0, which would be the final scoring, putting the Tigers at 2-0-1 on the season, ranked fourth in 3A.
Next week on March 31st, the Tigers will face off against Cheyenne Mountain at home at 4:00.
