Blades Brown is an 18-year-old golfer from Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on May 21, 2007, and is already making a big name for himself in golf. When he was just 16, he broke an old record that was set by legendary golfer Bobby Jones in 1920. Brown became the youngest person to win a medal at the U.S. Amateur golf tournament, which is a very important event for young golfers. Bobby Jones held the record for 103 years before Blades broke it.
Blades’ dad, Parke Brown, is a businessman in Nashville. He played golf with Blades at Nashville’s Richland Country Club since Blades was eight years old. His mom, Rhonda Blades, played professional basketball in the WNBA and was the first person in the league to score a 3-point shot. Rhonda was also named to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2023. Blades has an older sister named Millie, who is really good at basketball and helped her team win a state championship in high school.
Blades started playing golf when he was very young. In 2023, at just 16 years old, he shot a score of 64 at a big tournament at Colorado Golf Club, tying for first place. He also won another big tournament called the Elite Invitational with a score of 64 in the final round. Because of his success, the Tennessean newspaper named him the “Sportsperson of the Year” for 2024.
He’s played in many important tournaments and even played in his first PGA Tour event in 2024, where he made the cut and finished in 26th place with a score of 10 under par.
