The Fall Off is one of the most anticipated albums of the decade because it is J. Cole last album of his career. J. Cole has had an illustrious career. For the past 15 years he has had numerous classics including 2014 forest hills drive, 4 your eyez only, and the off season. Cole has a proven track record and fans were anticipating the next album. This album was in the works for probably eight years as it was teased back in 2018 but no official release date dropped until January 2026. This release date came out of no where and shocked many fans leaving a bittersweet feeling because it’s an album but it’s his last one, or so we think. On the night of February 6th it dropped and did not disappoint.
The Album starts off strong with “Two Six” as it comes in hot with a trap beat that sets the tone early. This leads to safety and tells a compelling story of Coles success and if it separates him from the struggle. Poor thang is one of the peaks of the album as it brings another electric beat and tells a story of cycle of violence and how people will end up in jail. Skipping a few track we get Who TF iz U and brings the best lyrics on the album. It starts with a mellow beat and switches into a strong and catchy beat. Next, Bunce Road Blue brings a chill beat from The Alchemist and Cole floats on it effortlessly.
That was just disc one and all of it was rapped from the perspective of when he was 29 or almost 12 years ago, a concept I thought was really cool and gives us some insight of what he thought about the rap game and things going on at that time.
