Both schools sit just minutes apart, but represent two distinct teams, making tonight’s rivalry one to remember.
Entering tonight’s game, the Eagles sit at the top tier of Colorado’s Class 6A girls basketball rankings- around #3 in the state and #3 in the Denver metro area. Broomfield’s roster is led by sophomore standout Reece Gilpatrick, who averages about 17.8 points per game, nearly 8 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game. Over the summer she represented team USA on the U16 USA Roster, leaving with a gold medal. Alongside her, senior guard Kaitlyn Cole runs the offense with about 4.3 assists per game, while senior Paige Gilpatrick contributes as well and is currently committed to Boise State.
On the other sideline, the Holy Family Tigers girls have built a strong season of their own despite facing tough competition in the 4A ranks. According to recent MaxPreps stats, Holy Family’s girls sit ranked around #47 in Colorado for 2025-26. Their offense has been led by senior guard Gracie Ward, who averages 18.9 points per game, leads the team in steals (about 3.8 steals/game), and contributes around 3.4 assists per game. Junior forward Priya Lucas has been a force on the boards, grabbing about 10 rebounds per game, giving the Tigers a strong presence around the paint. Three out of four of the Holy Family seniors are currently committed to play basketball in college.
Holy Family’s girls have been competitive this winter, securing key wins like a 67-52 victory over Kent Denver and 56-26 over Peak to Peak earlier in the season. In rivalry matchups where energy and heart matter as much as execution, the Tigers can compete.
The boys varsity playing at 7:00 PM also promises excitement. The Holy Family Tigers boys enter this rivalry battle with a strong 14-3 overall record and ranked near #20 in Colorado’s 4A classification. Their offense features senior point guard Matthew Evans, who averages around 12.9 points and 4 assists per game, and junior shooter Andrew Ward, who leads the team in field goal percentage. Senior Caleb Schott brings rebounding and defense with nearly 6.4 rebounds and nearly 3 steals per game.
The Broomfield Eagles boys have shown flashes of dominance as well, posting wins over teams like Monarch and Silver Creek in recent weeks, and seeing scoring contributions from players like junior Kolt Smith and senior Caleb Dunn.
The girls varsity rivalry will set the tone for the night in a matchup that brings fans in and around Broomfield.
It’s rivalry night- The Tigers step into this rivalry knowing the pressure sits squarely on the other side. As a 4A program facing a highly ranked 6A opponent, Holy Family has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Led by experienced upperclassmen and a strong roster, the Tigers have the chance to turn this game into exactly the kind of fight they want and a game played possession by possession.
