The 2026 Class 3A girls swim and dive state championship begins Friday Morning at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center. There are certain races where the top seed is expected based on last year’s results, and the League meets across the state last week, but some top seeds in other races are extremely unexpected.
Following a 9th-place finish at the Granite Peaks League meet last weekend, Holy Family’s medley relay goes into the state meet as the 14th seed, a stark contrast compared to their fourth-place finish at the state meet last year, with a time that was eight seconds faster than this year’s seed time. The top seed in the 200-medley relay unexpectedly belongs to Roosevelt with a seed time of 1:45.23 nearly 5 seconds ahead of Kent Denver’s second place seed time.
Sophomore Megan Genzenbach goes into both of her events looking to make the top 10 A final. In the 200 free her time ranks her 7th at the 3A state meet, and her 500 free time should be good enough for a 3rd place podium finish with a current 3rd place ranking.
Senior Lorelai Frauenfelder heads into the state meet as the reigning state champion in the 50 and 100 yard
freestyle. She switched up her events this year at the state meet and will be swimming the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. She heads in ranked 2nd in the 200 IM and ranked 1st in the 100 free. Based on her performance at the Granite Peaks League meet last weekend where she won both the 200 free and 100 back and secured the CO Granite Peaks League swimmer of the year, she is sure to do something amazing at the state meet.
The Tigers also send in two relays that are both stacked and will definitely have at least a top 10 finish. The 200 yard freestyle relay heads into the meet as the 3rd seed and the 400 freestyle relay heads in as the 4th seed.
Holy Family will have ten swimmers competing in the state meet and are sure to make an appearance at finals and hopefully on the podium. Be sure to head over to the Veterans Memorial Aquatic center to cheer on the tigers.
