The NBA deadline is approaching fast and teams are not missing out on chances to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.
The Clippers and the Cavaliers made a blockbuster, stage center trade and exchanged superstars. James Harden goes to the Cavaliers and Darius Garland. The Cavs are betting lots of money that this pans out and they make it out the east. chemistry has to be developed between the roster and especially between Donovan Mitchell and Harden as they are both primarily ball dominant that look to score as their first option. personally I don’t see this panning out as trading for a big superstar in the middle of the season never pans out in time for the playoffs. We saw this with the mavericks and the lakers in the biggest trade for Luka Doncic. There is not enough time for them to understand the team dynamic and morph into a role they need.
Utah secured Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies. To get the former DPOY, the Jazz surrendered a king’s ransom three unprotected first round picks and a package of young talent including Taylor Hendricks. The Grizzlies are not doing hot with their current roster and the west is not a conference that you can have a roster with flaws. They are building for the future and getting some picks will help with that. I don’t see what the Jazz gain from this as JJJ is not a superstar and they lose picks.
finally the Celtics acquire Nikola Vucevic to help their front court after losing Kristaps Porzingis.
stay on the watch for where Giannis Antetokounmpo will end up as he is requesting a trade. seems pretty reasonable as the bucks franchise has not listened to his needs for the past 5 years.
