This week, the Tigers were out of town, showing off their talent and Tiger pride on both coasts. The boys’ baseball team traveled to Las Vegas for a varsity tournament, while the girls’ cheer and poms teams headed to Florida to compete in multiple competitions.
The baseball team made history in Sin City, earning their first ever win in Vegas. Thanks to stellar pitching from Nolan Brunner, Kaden Hopkin, Britain Fox, and Austin Mireiter, the team pulled through. “We played really good actually. I think we’re gonna be good this year,” said Keenan Hughes, reflecting on the promise of the season ahead. The competition was fierce, but the Tigers rose to the challenge and even found some time to unwind with a mini golf tournament, making the trip more than just about games.
For poms, at state, Roosevelt had claimed the title while the Tigers finished behind, but many felt the results were unfair. Nationals offered a chance to settle the score on a fair playing field. The Tigers delivered strong performances across multiple categories, finishing fifth in program game day, seventh in game day, tenth in poms, and advancing to the semifinals in hip hop. Roosevelt, in contrast, didn’t even make it to the finals, leaving the results of state to be up for your interpretation.
Both trips highlighted not only athletic and performance skill but also school pride. The baseball players and poms athletes spent long days practicing, competing, while also exploring new cities and building memories that go beyond wins and rankings. For the baseball team, the Vegas tournament was a chance to test their mettle against tough opponents and set the tone for the season. For the poms team, nationals provided an opportunity to measure their skills against top programs and showcase the Tigers’ talent on a larger stage.
Overall, the out-of-town trips were a reminder of what Tiger pride is all about- teamwork, perseverance, and making the most of every opportunity. Both teams showed they can compete and represent their school. These experiences not only strengthen the Tigers on the field and the stage but also create lasting memories and a foundation for success in the months to come.
