The Denver Broncos had the first week bye in this year’s playoffs after securing the number one team in the AFC.
They went into the AFC divisional game against the Buffalo Bills at home. The game started with the Broncos scoring a field goal, and the Bills responding with a touchdown. The score at the end of the first quarter had the Bills up 7-3.
The Broncos responded in the second quarter with two touchdowns and a field goal, and only allowed the Bills to get one field goal in the second quarter. Leaving the Broncos leading 20-10 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime into the third quarter, the Broncos scored a field goal, putting them ahead 23-10, with the Bills responding with a touchdown. Leaving the score going into the fourth quarter, 23-17 Broncos. The fourth quarter possession went back and forth, with a touchdown from each team and two field goals for the Bills, leading to the end of the fourth quarter tied 30-30, leading to an overtime that would affect everyone.
The Broncos got the ball first in overtime and went three and out, punting the ball to the Bills, worrying the Broncos fans that their season was over. The Bills got one first down on a long third down and went for a big play down the field to put them in field goal range, which was picked off by the Broncos’ cornerback, Ja’Quan McMillan. The Broncos then drove down the field, getting two pass interference calls, putting them into field goal range, leading to Will Lutz scoring the game-winning field goal.
The Broncos and their fans’ celebration high was quickly killed by the devastating news of the season ending injury of their franchise quarterback, Bo Nix, breaking his ankle, and needing surgery. This upcoming week against the Patriots, we will be playing with quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who played great in the preseason and has no film on him.
