Holy Family Girls Swim at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center
The Holy Family girls swim and dive team has an away tri meet this afternoon against both Legacy and Horizon at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center. The Tigers will take on two of the highest-ranked 5A teams in the state, but don’t count the Tigers out for individual event wins.
The Horizon Hawks have a standout swimmer in every single event, but they can’t cover the whole pool at once. Junior Addison Garcia consistently swims the 100 freestyle in a 56.05, but the counter from Holy Family is Junior Megan Grenzenbach who gets pretty close with a time of 57.34. Horizons 200 freestyle relay is five seconds slower than Holy Family’s top 200 freestyle relay. Horizon holds an edge on both Holy Family and Legacy with their four divers.
The Legacy Lightning have four standout swimmers who consistently win their events. Junior Emerson Henkel holds the best time in the 100 fly, 100 breast, and the 500 free. Senior Emily Petranek swims the best time in the 50 free and the 200 freestyle. The Legacy for Legacy girls swim and dive will be left with Freshman Reese Hopper who holds the best times in the 100 back and the 200 Individual Medley.
The Tigers will be able to compete with the large 5A teams mostly in the relays. A harder competition always leads to faster times. Be on the lookout for seniors Sophie Gremillion and Kailyn Tucker, and also juniors Megan Grenzenbach and Cecilia Brougham to come close to being at the top of their events.
