Hopefully everyone has there goggles, because senior assassin started last Sunday. Senior assassin is a game where seniors get targets they have to eliminate using water guns. Although there are a lot of rules about when targets can get assassinated sometimes things get out of hand.
Holy Family High school is currently in there 3rd year of playing senior assassin. Every year one senior organizes the game and gets the whole grade in on it.
This game has gotten so big there is an app for it. I spoke with some Holy Family seniors about their opinion on the game, “Senior assassin is stressful in a fun way. I like that our class is brought together in one final game before we all go our separate ways.”
Another said: “Honestly I don’t really like it. It is fun for the first couple of weeks. But I don’t want it to go too long because I want to enjoy all of the other aspects of senior without having to worry about being assassinated. I feel that in past years this game has gone on too long.”
With the mixed opinions of the game a large amount of our seniors are playing. There are 106 seniors playing with more joining in the next week. But what is the appeal of this? There is a twenty dollar buy in for each team meaning that the pot adds up significantly each week. You can also pay to buy back in your teammates and place bounties on other people. In the past the pot has gotten up to $1,400.
Although this game isn’t affiliated with Holy Family, sometimes people get a little crazy as the game progresses.
I spoke with our Security Director about his plans on how to handle this game and his opinion on the game as a whole.
“I think the game is a fun right of passage. All throughout high school you watch as the classes above you as they participate in the game. I want to educate the seniors playing on the safety aspects of how to play. It is crucial that Holy Family is a safe zone so that there is safety in the parking lot for all of our staff and students. Because there is money on the line I want to ensure that when this is all over someone is getting paid out. I wrote a message in the Tiger alert to remind all of our seniors that they need to play the game safely to ensure that nobody gets hurt. “
