Senior Lorelai Frauenfelder leads the way for Holy Family Swimming.

Senior Lorelai Frauenfelder leads the way for Holy Family girls’ swimming and is quickly becoming a standout swimmer for Colorado swimming.

Fraunfelder left her mark on Holy Family swim when she became their first-ever swimming state champion with two first-place finishes at the Colorado 3A state meet last year. In the 50-yard freestyle, she swam a 23.27, and in the 100-yard freestyle, she narrowly won the event in a 51.15.

Frauenfelder spent most of her swimming career swimming for the Front Range Barracudas but following a switch to the Hilltoppers swim club her senior year she’s only getting faster.

She started her winter break in Austin Texas racing with her club at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships. She swam three personal bests time while at the notoriously fast University of Texas pool. In the 50-yard freestyle she went even faster than her state championship winning time last year, with a time of 23.14. Additionally, in the 100-yard butterfly she went a 54.60 and in the 200-yard individual medley she went a 2:01.93.

She will be back in Austin Texas next week swimming against some of the world’s greatest athletes at the USA Swimming Pro Swim Series.  Frauenfelder will be taking six events to the Pro Series next week competing in the, 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 Individual medley, and the 50 freestyle.  She’ll be racing those events against Olympians like Simone Manuel, Summer McIntosh, and Regan Smith. Many of these athletes have Olympic medals so for Frauenfelder to be taking her talent to race against them at just 17 is a absolutely insane accomplishment.

For her last high school swim meets Frauenfelder will be taking her talents in early February to compete for Holy Family at both the Granite Peaks league meet and the 3A state championship meet. Following graduation Lorelai will be continuing her athletic and academic career at the University of Wyoming where she will make a immediate impact.
