Earlier this week, the Oklahoma City Thunder faced off against the Phoenix suns and it was an understatement to call it just a blowout. OKC won by 40 points and their stars sat out the fourth quarter. After this win the Thunder moved up to 24-1 on the season and tie the 2015-2016 Warriors for best start to an NBA season ever.
The Thunder have been blowing out teams on a regular basis and their stars have been sitting out 4th quarters for a majority of their games. The Thunder have had six games with in a eight point margin every other games has been a considerably large victory. These victories are not against bad teams either. The Western Conference is still as strong as it has ever been and the Thunder are still winning all of their games.
Their one loss is against the Portland Trailblazers as they blew a 22 point lead. Very surprising loss as they are not known for blowing leads. However, they have learned from their mistakes and have been playing at the best level we have ever seen. OKC has an average margin of victory of 17.4 points a game. Seventeen of their games have been won by a double digit margin.
The OKC roster is one of the most complete rosters in history, their mix of offense in Shai Gilgous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams are all very good scorers that can all hit down 3’s. Chet hitting 3’s is dangerous as spreading the floor with a big can create many opportunities on offense and makes it hard for traditional big men to keep up with him. The defense shines as Alex Caruso, and Lu Dort and the rest of the roster can play tough defense. Lu Dort’s physical defense questionable as the refs miss a lot of calls on him specifically.
The only teams I see beating OKC this year are the Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets, Celtics, Lakers, and Pistons. All these teams except Nuggets, Spurs, Pistons, and Celtics haven’t played them yet and I am excited to see how the rest of the season unfold.
