This past Sunday was crazy for Browns fans. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his first start in the NFL, and he didn’t just play — he won. Giving the Browns only their third win on the season. The Browns beat the Raiders 24–10, and it felt like the start of something new in Cleveland.
Sanders looked calm the whole game, looking more comfortable than usual for a rookie. He threw for 209 yards, including a huge 53‑yard pass to Isaiah Bond that got the crowd going. His first touchdown was a 66‑yard screen pass to Dylan Sampson, and everyone in the stadium went wild. Yeah, he had one interception, but it didn’t really matter because he kept making big plays when the team needed them.
The defense was tough as usual, the only thing that has kept them in many of their games. Myles Garrett had three sacks by himself, and the Browns’ defense sacked Geno Smith ten times in total. Every time the Raiders tried to get something going, Cleveland shut it down. The Dawg Pound was loud all game, and you could tell the Raiders were rattled.
On offense, rookie running back Quinshon Judkins helped out, too. He ran for 47 yards and scored two touchdowns, giving Sanders some backup so he didn’t have to do everything himself.
The win was historic. Before Sanders, Browns quarterbacks had lost 17 straight first starts since 1999. He broke that streak, becoming the first rookie QB to win his debut since Eric Zeier back in 1995. For fans, it wasn’t just another win — it felt like hope. Coach Kevin Stefanski said Sanders didn’t try to do too much, and that’s what made him successful. He just played his game, stayed cool, and trusted his teammates.
Now, Cleveland finally has a quarterback who looks like he belongs. Beating the Raiders wasn’t just a good start — it might be the beginning of a whole new era for the Browns. Shaddy is up, and it’s time to tune in.
