With the holiday season upon us, life’s about to start moving pretty fast. With just one week to Thanksgiving or Turkey Day, as my family calls it, we look at some of the best parts of Thanksgiving, not just the food, but also the tradition it brings.
Families all around gather for the holiday and make an absolute feast of food, usually staring Turkey. But let’s not forget about the sidekicks that make the dinner what it is. Here’s my ranking of Thanksgiving side dishes.
1) Mashed potatoes
2) Stuffing
3) Cranberry sauce
4) Green bean Casserole
5) Mac and Cheese
Moving on from side dishes families gather together to reaccount what they’re thankful for this year. But it goes beyond that. From watching the football games together, to recalling memories from previous years, Thanksgiving is truly bonding time for families.
A tradition my family has is the morning of Thanksgiving my mom will make us cinnamon rolls, and we will sit on
the couch to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Were also a family who puts our Christmas decorations up on November 1st so while we watch the parade we put ornaments on the family tree. We don’t usually make it all the way to the end of the parade but we end the morning with a fully decorated tree.
Thanksgiving is a time to reconnect will family and show them what your thankful for before the busy holiday season hits. It’s not about the food, it’s mainly about being surrounded by your loved ones.
