With the Holy Family girls swim and dive season starting next week, we take a look back at how the season ended last year and look forward to the upcoming season.
Last season at the 3A state championship meet, the Tigers finished 5th last year and earned their first two state
championship individual championships from junior Lorelai Frauenfelder. Frauenfelder won the 50 free with a time of 23.27 and won the 100 free in 51.15. With eight seniors graduating, a large gap has been left in the state team. Some other standout performances from last year’s meet from the swimmers that will return this year include sophomore Megan Genzenbach’s 5th place finish in the 500 free, senior Kailyn Tuckers 13th place finish in the 100 fly, senior Sophie Gremillion’s 17th place finish in the 100 back, and junior Emily Opie’s 20th place finish in the 100 back.
Hopefully bridging the gap left from the eight graduating seniors are the nine incoming freshman who will be swimming this season. Standout Tegan Manley is a year-round club swimmer for the Front Range Barracudas and is a hopeful for the state team.
The Tigers season begins with a dual against Longmont at Saint Vrain Aquatics center. The season quickly gets harder from there with a dual or a tri every week with then a large invitational on the weekend.
Holy Family will celebrate the nine graduating seniors including Lorelai Frauenfelder on January 28th at the
Broomfield Community Center during their dual against Broomfield.
Championship season will then commence from there with the Tigers competing in the stacked Granite Peaks league featuring powerhouse teams like Broomfield, Legacy, Fairview, and Centaurus with prelims on February 6th and finals on February 7th. The state qualifiers will then compete at the 3A state meet the following week with prelims on February 13th and finals on February 14th.
