Three weeks in the NBA have passed, and it would be an understatement to say that it was eventful. Week one was a particular highlight as many games came down to the final possession. Random players were dropping 50 point games and it is safe to say it was an amazing first week.
With that being said, some teams are doing better than other and the NBA dropped their official power rankings.
At #1 it’s not really a surprise, the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. They have displayed their dominance and are the returning champs this year. they have their whole roster and continue to develop their bench. Lead by Shai Gilgeous Alexander, averaging 33 point per game which is #2 in the league, he has shown he is still an MVP candidate ready to lead his team back to the promised land.
At #2 is the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets have showcased their newly acquired depth. Their bench has given the starters much needed rest and they have shown to be consistent. Tim Hardaway Jr. is a knockdown 3-point shooter and hits clutch shots. Jonas Valanciunas gives Jokic his much needed rest as he is a very consistent bench player who can put up double digits in points and rebounds. On the starters, Jokic continues to dominate as he is averaging a triple double as of right now. Aaron Gordon has stepped up in a big way and shows he is a consistent 3rd option. Jamal Murray is doing very well to start the season.
Rounding it out, #3 is the L.A. Lakers. The Lakers are missing Lebron and Luka Doncic and are still looking very good. This can be attributed to Austin Reaves. He has dropped multiple 30 point games and is leading the lakers to a strong start to their season. We will see how good the lakers are with their fully healthy roster later down the season.
