On December 31, 2021, Joe Gatto, one of the Jokers from TruTv’s hit comedy show Impractical Jokers, announced that he is stepping away from the show that he and his friends have grown since 2011.

The lengthy Instagram announcement covers a ton, from the show itself, to his life long friends, his success from it, his fans, but most importantly, why he is stepping away from the show. Joe states: “However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away.” He then explained what these issues are: “Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”

He then goes on to talk about his friendship with the other Jokers. “Outside of my family, my relationships with Murr, Q and Sal have been the most important in my life. I know they will continue to make the world laugh.” In the same paragraph he goes on to thank the amazing crew that helped produced the show: “And even though the four of us are the ones who you all see, this show is only possible due to the hard work of the talented crew members who work behind the scenes. I am very thankful to have worked with each and every one of them.”

Yet, that isn’t the only people he thanked. “To all of the amazing fans, thank you for allowing me to make you laugh with Jokers. They say that laughter is the best medicine, and I hope I’ve been able to provide some of that over the last decade. Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times we find ourselves.”

At the end, Joe assures his many fans that this won’t be the end. Even though he may be stepping away from Impractical Jokers, he will still find ways to make people laugh. “As I work through the challenges I am facing, I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you.” As of right now, it doesn’t look like Joe will return to the show anytime soon; however, never say never.

A day after Joe’s post, Brian Quinn, another Joker, posted this on to his Instagram:

Not soon after, the other two Jokers, James “Murr” Murray and Sal Vulcano also posted the same heartfelt post. Even though Joe may be leaving the show, the other three Jokers still want to continue the show and will make a new season in January. “While we are saddened to see him go, we want to keep making people laugh, keep our relationship with the Impractical Jokers fans going, and keep working with the members of our team that we consider family. With the support of our fans, we’ll get back to making a new chapter of Impractical Jokers in January.”

Now will it be weird seeing the show without Joe? Yes, of course it will! Yet, I am still very happy that they are continuing the show and we will enjoy many more laughs with Q, Murr, and Sal. It is also exciting awaiting the multiple ways Joe will keep us laughing as well. Who knows, maybe Joe will come back. But for now, We Love You Joe! and hopefully you will find Larry!<3
