Unfortunately, the 2024 school year is coming to an end. And sadly this means no more newspaper class.
So with my last story, I’ll hopefully round out the rest of the remaining playoffs in sports 2/2, and maybe even snipe a little baseball champion.
It’s currently the second round in both basketball, and hockey, and things are getting weird. Weird is where I like it.
Let’s start with basketball. In the West, I would tell you what’s going on in the Nuggets and Timberwolves series if I knew. Each team has gotten swept at home, and it’s coming back to Denver tied 2-2 for Game 5. The Nuggets need to make some serious defensive adjustments, mostly against Anthony Edwards who is quickly becoming the face of basketball right now. However, the Timberwolves need to change nothing on defense, as they are one of the best defensive teams in the league by far, thanks to 2024 DPOY Rudy Gobert. I hope the Nuggets win in 7.
The Thunder and Mavs are tied 2-2 after the Thunder came back last night against the Mavs. Despite missing many free throws, they’re playing to their strengths, which is get Luka and Kyrie the ball, but also thriving with great team play. The Thunder seem to be missing a spark right now, and their youth is starting to get to them. I think whoever comes out of the West is going to win it all.
The East has been fraudulent this year. The so-called power house Celtics have been struggling against the short handed Cavs who have struggling due to injuries. They currently have a 3-1 lead, but only due to sheer luck despite their lackluster performances. Don’t even get me started on the Knicks and Pacers series. The Knicks can’t escape injury, or bad luck. The Pacers seem to only face injured teams, while having a plethora of good luck. The Knicks should have swept with a healthy squad, but have to move forward without star center Mitchell Robinson due to an ankle injury the rest of playoffs, and a lingering hamstring injury on OG Anunoby. Star point guard Jalen Brunson is also pretty banged up, so we’ll have to see how the Knicks adapt moving forward.
In regards to hockey and baseball, I’m far from being right. But I go with my gut and what my gut is telling me.
Right now it’s telling me Panthers are bringing home Lord Stanley. I don’t care how they get it and who they have to play, but they are playing some real good puck right now and their goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, doesn’t let many in the net. Despite a shaky start to the Bruins series, Sergei is dominant to say the least. That to me is a recipe for success. I still hope the Avs win, but its not looking to likely down 1-3.
As for baseball, it’s still way too early to tell, but I love the Orioles. I’m, all over them. They’re a solid team. They got a good bullpen, and can drive in runs no matter the day. They’re going to win a lot of games this year, and they’re going to shock some teams.
