With school back in session, so are your favorite cookie reviews! Continuing the work of our past reviewers the new Lamp Post Staff is here to give you the scoop on all of the weekly Crumbl flavors. If you haven’t gone out and gotten yourself a box, go treat your taste buds and rank them for yourself!
To start off, in fourth, Chocolate Peanut Butter Puffs (second from the left). This was a chilled chocolate cookie topped with peanut butter frosting and chocolate peanut butter cereal puffs. Although this cookie may look okay at first glance that thought changes right when you bite into it. The first and only thing that hits your mouth is a giant glob of peanut butter frosting that is completely overpowering. Now don’t get me wrong I love peanut butter but there was just to much. Now, this peanut butter frosting sits on top of a cold chocolate cookie which is frankly just not that amazing. Nothing necessarily stands out about this cookie and really makes me want to eat more and for that reason, its in the last slot.
Into the good cookies with third, Snickerdoodle Cupcake (far right). Honestly, this was an amazing cookie and the only thing holding this from the top spot is a lack of creativity. This cookie is the classic warm cinnamon sugar cookie topped with a cream cheese frosting and some cinnamon sugar. The flavor of the cream cheese frosting will always be a favorite of mine. The cookie itself was soft and cooked to perfection, but as I said its not something that really wows me with creativity and for that reason it finds itself in the third slot.
Now, in second, Cookie Butter Lava Ft Biscoff (second from right). This was a warm cookie stuffed and drizzled with Biscoff cookie butter spread, topped with crumbly cookie pieces. I seriously have no clue what Biscoff even is but it makes a darn good cookie so I’m definitely not complaining. This cookie was amazing from the first bite. There is a very strong butter taste in the cookie and it is very soft and chewy throughout the whole thing. The only reason this cookie is not taking the number one spot is because of the competition it had this week. Overall a very strong cookie for second place.
Rounding out this week in first, French Silk Pie (far left). This is a dark chocolate pie cookie topped with a wonderful chocolate mousse, whipped cream, and chocolate curls. This cookie has established a dominance in these reviews and for good reason. For the third time ever it is in the top spot of the week. I attribute the high ranking of this cookie mostly to the mousse. The texture is silky and it makes your mouth explode with flavor. I’m personally not the biggest fan of dark chocolate but it just worked spectacularly within this cookie pie. Get your hands on this one while you still can!
The first week of cookies certainly had some very high, highs, and some very low, lows. It sets a certain standard for the cookies the rest of the year, and I am thrilled to be able to review them for you!
