The Best Winter Activities In Colorado

Marissa Gray, Staff Writer

Colorado is in its full blown winter season. The snow has been falling hard lately, and it is coating Colorado in white. During this season, there are several options for entertainment that do not include skiing or snowboarding.

If you want a quick way to warm up, try a hot spring. You can find one in Glenwood Springs, Gunnison, Steamboat Springs, and Telluride. Pick a location near you and go to a hot spring!

Another fan favorite during the winter season is ice skating. There are several rinks around Colorado, specifically in Denver and Belmar in Lakewood. The costs are relatively low for this activity, as all you need to do is rent skates for however long you want to skate.

One of my personal favorites is tubing. If you don’t want to ski, tubing is a great alternative for some fun. Almost every ski resort will offer this activity, and the costs are relatively inexpensive. At Winter Park, you can do Cosmic tubing, which is a tubing experience with neon lights as you slide down the hill.

At Rocky Mountain National Park, you can go snowshoeing. This activity is a great way to exercise during the winter months and explore the amazing scenery. The gear costs are pretty low, and it is a super fun way to spend a day.

If you’re looking for an activity with a little more thrill, try snowmobiling. All you have to do is rent one for a few hours, and then you can begin your trip. Popular locations in Colorado for snowmobiling include Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs.

For experienced climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, ice climbing is a great option. Ouray, a small mountain town in Colorado, is ranked as one of the best places for ice climbing in the whole country. The scenery is beautiful, and it is a great workout for anyone interested.
