Crumble Week 2: Me Want Cookies

Sierra Nanez, Staff Writer

Welcome back to the second week of Crumbl. Since you’re back I’m assuming you enjoyed the first and came back for another dive into the new flavors. After all, we all need a little something to look forward to since our spirit days are nowhere in sight. If you haven’t already, go out and get yourself a box. Share with friends or take them all for yourself, we won’t judge 😉

I’ve never had pity for last place… and especially not this time. Coming in at last was Circus Animal (second from right). A sweet rainbow sprinkles cookie covered with a melted white chips frosting, a cute little pink circus animal, and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles. In terms of looks this cookie is definitely the cutest and gets and A+. In terms of taste though, it lacked a lot. I was expecting a twist on the beloved circus animal crackers. NOPE! It was a dressed up sugar cookie. I was completely deceived to say the least. This cookie completely let me down and that can’t be forgiven.

In third was Cinnamon Frybread (far left). A melt in your mouth, best when warm, frybread cookie, topped with butter and a scoop of cinnamon buttercream. This cookie was dang good. Not to sweet, but some may say it lacked flavor. I on the other hand think it’s a perfect desert type of cookie that won’t attack you on all sides with sugar and frosting like the usual Crumbl cookie. The cinnamon buttercream was especially good and added the perfect amount of sweetness that this light and fluffy cookie needed. It’s ranking does not define it’s utter deliciousness and I would definitely eat this again.

In second we have Red Velvet Cupcake (second from left). A red velvet cookie, topped with vanilla cream cheese, and sprinkled with red velvet crumbs. I always find it interesting how Crumbl can take classic deserts and make them into a cookie. I’m not one to put red velvet at the top of my list but this cookie deserved it. The rich taste and the cream cheese frosting brought some great things to the table. I loved this cookie and would most definitely enjoy it again. I know this cookie was a real winner for many people and this week it got really close for me.

What we’ve all been waiting for… first place… Mallow Sandwich (far right)!! An Oreo super sandwich! A fluffy, creamy center between two chocolate brownie cookies covered in Oreo pieces. Some may say it’s cheating to just supersize an Oreo, but this was much more then that. The filling of the cookie was absolutely amazing, way better then the center of your everyday Oreo because it was actually cream and not an old hard slab of icing. The mix of using brownie covered in Oreo was an amazing way to create the cookie that didn’t just mimic a normal Oreo. It’s difficult to take something that’s already loved and make it even better. I loved this cookie and if not any of the others, you have got to try this cookie.

Unranked last week was Strawberry Shortcake. I was really excited to try this cookie and Crumbl failed me. They ran out and because of this they have an unranked cookie. Personally I believe that gives them an absolute zero. Don’t advertise a cookie if you’re not gonna have it! Other then that it was another great week of cookies and the stakes continue to be set high.
