Halloween is quickly approaching, and Holy Family students are buzzing with excitement about the upcoming festivities. This year, students have the day off on Friday, providing an extended weekend to celebrate Halloween from Thursday through Sunday. With multiple nights to enjoy the holiday, anticipation is running high throughout the school community.
For many students Halloween is all about the costumes. Some students plan months in advance while others throw something together last second. Inspired by television, animals, or other famous characters- dressing up is a big deal for some.
As students get older, the way they celebrate Halloween begins to shift. While younger students may enjoy traditional trick-or-treating, older students often look forward to parties, haunted houses, or other events with friends. Whispers about who will host the biggest Halloween parties are already circulating, adding a sense of mystery and excitement to the weekend. With multiple nights available to celebrate, there are plenty of opportunities for students to enjoy the holiday in their own way.
Decorations are another highlight of Halloween at Holy Family, both at school and at home. While some teachers, like Mr. Yunt, say they are not big supporters of Halloween, even he joins in on the spirit by decorating his home—though much of the credit goes to his daughter. “I guess I’m not the biggest fan,” he admits with a laugh, “but it’s fun to see how excited the kids get.” Students also notice decorations in their neighborhoods. Samantha Gryzmala points out that one neighbor even puts up a 75-foot-tall Santa, showing the lengths some go to in order to create a festive atmosphere. These decorations, whether spooky or whimsical, add to the excitement and sense of celebration.
From spooky costumes to festive decorations and lively parties, Halloween at Holy Family is more than just a day but a celebration that brings students, families, and the community together. Whether through fun or fright, the holiday provides something for everyone to enjoy. For HF students, Halloween is a time to share laughter, make memories, and embrace the excitement of the season. Students are eagerly looking forward to what is hoped to be, one of the biggest celebrations of the year. With multiple nights to celebrate, parties to attend, costumes to plan, and decorations to see, the holiday fills conversations across Holy Family High School.
