This Sunday, October 23, Holy Family High School is hosting its annual Open House for future incoming students. At this open house, present students and teachers will be there to help middle school families discover what makes Holy Family special.
At the Open House families will be able to take a guided tour of the campus, meet teachers, coaches, and administrators, and explore all of the different programs and clubs that the schools has to offer to kids. Here there will be booths of all sorts such as a booth for every girls and boys sports team with current players and coaches there to speak to kids and show them why kids should join that sports program and what makes their team unique.
Alongside sports booths is booths for clubs such as culinary club, French, Spanish, and Latin clubs, art club, robotics club, Tigers for life, Mission Club, speech and debate club, student ambassadors, and NHS. At these booths there are members of the club recruiting middle schools students to join and speaking to parents about what each club is about and why their student might be interested.
A high school open house is an important event for middle school students because it helps them prepare for the big transition to high school. Moving from middle school to high school can feel exciting but also overwhelming, and an open house gives students and their families a chance to explore what’s ahead. During the event, students can tour the building, visit classrooms, and meet teachers and staff. This helps them become familiar with their future school environment, which can reduce anxiety and build confidence before their first day. Parents benefit, too, because they can meet teachers, understand expectations, and learn how to support their child’s success.
Overall, a high school open house helps middle school students feel more comfortable, motivated, and excited about the next chapter in their education. It’s not just about seeing classrooms—it’s about building connections, setting goals, and imagining the possibilities that high school offers for learning and personal growth.
