On March 3rd, 2025, the Dallas Mavericks were playing the Sacramento Kings. Kyrie Irving was looking promising until a few minutes passed in the first quarter. Kyrie Irving tore his ACL and was out indefinitely, missing the rest of the 2024-2025 season for the Mavericks.
Kyrie Irving was scheduled to undergo surgery on his ACL injury on March 26, 2025. It was a successful ACL reconstruction, and there was no other damage to other ligaments. Although the surgery was successful, Kyrie Irving was scheduled to miss all of the 2025-2026 NBA season and to only return if the Mavericks made the playoffs, or so we thought.
Kyrie Irving was recently spotted on the basketball court, looking healthy and versatile. The recovery process for Kyrie Irving is looking promising. He is six months into his recovery and is moving better than ever. He has been participating in post-practice shooting drills and light workouts with the Mavericks. He also participated in the training camps in Vancouver.
Although Kyrie Irving is ahead of schedule, he will not be expected to return to game action anytime soon. Irving and the team are avoiding setting a specific timeline for Kyrie Irving’s return for obvious health reasons.
There is a lot of noise around Kyrie and his injury and it has been a challenge for him. He has spoken openly on the emotional ups and downs of rehab. He says there are days where he feels very strong and invincible, and other times where he feels very weak and injured.
Kyrie recently said on his Twitter, “Please don’t ask me when I’m coming back… I’m going to be ready when I’m ready.”
