Taylor Swift released her new album The Life of a Showgirl dropped at midnight on Friday, the 3rd of October. Upon its release, Spotify crashed due to all the eager fans joining on the second of its release. However, many fans are not happy with the new album.
Swift wrote on her Instagram caption, “I can’t tell you how proud I am to do this with you, and an album that just feels so right.”
Taylor marks the album as a “self-portrait” and is based on the European part of her Eras Tour.
The whole album is 41 minutes and 40 seconds. The album contains 12 songs and Taylor is very proud of it’s high-quality. This makes it her shortest album she’s released since 2006, with her eponymous debut album. The album was produced exclusively with Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback.
Fans are already speculating the meaning of her songs on the album. The song “Opalite” is about her fiancé, Travis Kelce. The song “The Fate of Ophelia” has a music video and behind-the-scenes footage, which will be released at AMC Theaters nationwide. It will be an 89-minute film with a lyric video and Taylor Swift’s commentary on each track.
“The Life of a Show Girl” became the most pre-saved album in Spotify history. It passed Taylor’s own album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Sabrina Merrion states “Better albums have come out from her before and this one was very overhyped for what it is. She spent weeks promoting the album, only for it to be not very good.”
Many fans are feeling the same as Sabrina is. They feel the songs on the album are boring and too much praise was given to the album for its release.
Personally, I feel that the album wasn’t advertised for what we got. Taylor made it sound like it was gonna be this life-changing album but in the end, I had to stop listening after one song.
Overall, the album has an upbeat tones and most of Taylor’s fast music is slower and more lyrical. This could be a reason for why many fans do not like the new album
