The Detroit Lions won an extremely impressive Monday Night Football game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Lions won 38-30 in a thriller in week 3 matchup. The Ravens came in as 4.5-point favorites.
The Lions defense had their best game of the young season and had seven sacks and one turnover. The sacks were made by Al-Quidin Muhammad (2.5), Jack Campbell (1), Derrick Barnes (1), Aiden Hutchinson (1), Trevor Nowaske (1), and Alex Anzalone (0.5). Hutchinson also caused the fumble by punching the ball out of Derek Henry’s arm causing him to have his third fumble of the year already.
Jared Goff threw for 202 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. A large part of Goff’s early success is due to the offensive live. The Lions O-Line has three returning players including Penei Sewell, Taylor Decker, and Graham Glasgow who were a huge part of the team last year. The two new linemen are Tate Ratledge and Christian Mahogany. Sewell was the highest graded offensive tackle in the NFL (98.7), Ratledge was fourth (91.4), and Decker was ninth (82.9). The lions O-Line allowed zero sacks and led the running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs to 224 yards.
The Lions came into this year with two new coordinators after Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn left for head coaching jobs. John Morton replaced Johnson in the offensive coordinator spot. The offence struggled week one but have bounced back in the past two weeks having 90 combined points. Morton was with Denver last season. Kelvin Sheppard replaced Glenn in the defensive coordinator spot and has improved quickly. Sheppard was the linebacker coach last season for the lions.
Dan Campbell has been super impressive making the lions into a winning team the past three seasons. Having 15 wins last season will be hard to match, but that is Campbell’s expectations for the 2025-2026 season. The Lions look to defeat the NFC North for the third straight season.
