Twenty years ago, a cool idea popped up for a golf tournament, thanks to a school down south that used to host on right before the state championship golf tournament.
When that school’s course closed, a new opportunity presented itself.
“I jumped on the opportunity to add a tournament of our own,” said head coach Will Wilson, who looks forward to handing out the Bobblehead trophies every year.
The big question was what was gonna make this tournament stand out?
In addition to the wild and crazy outfits that everyone is encouraged to sport, that’s when the Bobblehead golfer came into the picture, becoming the signature trophy.
But here’s where it gets even more fun. This year, the University of Colorado golf team is hosting a tournament of their own, the day before, and the golf course will be in pristine condition.
Since this tournament didn’t count towards the regular season, the golfers asked, “Can we dress goofy?” The answer was definitely a yes!
Soon, teams were showing up with some serious “sartorial flair,” as Coach Willson put it. Imagine golfers rocking knickers and old-school golf caps, beach themes, and even some Tiger Woods costumes.
Despite all the crazy outfits, the bobblehead tournament is no joke. “It’s still a highly competitive tournament, “Coach Wilson explained. You’ve got some of the best players from different classifications showing off their skills, alongside others who just need one more event before the season wraps up. So, get ready for some serious golf, hilarious costumes, and bobbleheads galore!
