Los Angeles police are investigating the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas after her body was discovered earlier this month in the trunk of a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd a well known artist that has blown up on TikTok.
Authorities confirmed that the vehicle, which had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, neighbors reported a disgusting odor. During inspection, officers found a decomposed body inside. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office later identified the remains as belonging to Rivas, a teenager reported missing from Lake Elsinore in April 2024.
The discovery has shocked fans of D4vd, who rose to popularity on TikTok and music streaming platforms with songs like Romantic Homicide and Here With Me. While the Tesla is registered to the artist, police have not charged him with any crime, and officials say he has been cooperating fully with investigators.
Detectives from the LAPD got a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills residence linked to the singer. Investigators have not released details of what, if anything, was recovered.
Speculation has swirled online. Some social media users noted that both Rivas and and D4vid has a matching “Shhh…” tattoo on their index fingers. Others circulated their was unreleased tracks in which the artist referenced a girl named “Celeste.” Authorities have not confirmed whether these connections hold any evidentiary value. Most people are speculating that Rivas was pregnant as on stream she advocated she was. This has caused more controversy she’s a minor and people suspecting that D4vid was the father .
For now, police emphasize that registration of the car alone does not prove involvement in the teen’s death. Multiple people may have had access to the vehicle, and detectives are working to establish a timeline of events leading up to its abandonment. Family members of Rivas have asked for privacy while calling for answers.
