Holy Family has started doing entire grades from a certain school for a whole day. They arrive at Holy Family at 10:00 on a school bus. They take a tour around the school to see the classrooms and which ones are located in which hallways. They then head to the lunch room, where they get a Mama Burke-made lunch. They pick between the lunch being served or the make-your-own salad bar, as well as getting a cookie.
After they get their lunch, they head over to the theater where they get a talk from our admissions directors and three students from the school who are attending that day’s shadow day. They start this talk with a period for questions about what to expect when attending Holy Family; these questions are answered by the president and principal.
After the question portion is over, they go into the talk part. They let the three students who previously attended the middle school introduce themselves and explain why they chose to attend Holy Family.
Then the Admissions team starts in about their experiences with Holy Family, how long they have worked there, and if they have had kids go through this program.
To entice these students to apply, they start with the diversity of schools within our school. Mrs. Sloan made a quote that perfectly fits our school: “Although we are a small school excelling in academics, sports, and performing arts, we are still a family.” That perfectly describes our school because academics and sports are a main focus amongst the students, and we lose track of how close-knit we are as a family.
They finish out the talk with courses needed to graduate, school expectations, and hopes to lead them to a better future.
