School lunch here at Holy Family is a big part of student life. Not only is it a midday meal for students, but a time and place to reconnect and socialize with friends as well as fuel up for the second half of the day. Whether you buy lunch or bring it from home everyone has their favorite lunch served here at Holy Family.
From a survey of Holy Family seniors, juniors, sophomores, and even freshman the clear winner of students favorite lunch is chicken dinner. A close second is a tie between chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and pasta and breadsticks. Although these were the top choices of the favorite lunch survey I conducted I had answers all over the place with at least one vote for almost every lunch here.
Just like the students have a favorite lunch to eat, the cooks have a favorite to make. Ellen Christoff, one of the cooks in the kitchen at Holy Family loves to make the chicken sandwiches and Italian subs. The Director of Food Services here at Holy Family, and the lady behind all the delicious lunches here is Victoria Burke. Mrs. Burke’s favorite lunch to make is tacos. Another huge part of lunch here is Mrs. Burke’s famous cookies. Any of the students here will tell you how good the school cookies are here after lunch each day. Every day the kitchen staff makes a different flavor cookie in addition to the classic chocolate chip cookie. Mrs. Burke also known as Mama Burke to many students loves to make the heath bar crunch cookie.
Compared to many other public and private schools, Holy Family’s lunch service is one of the best. It is high quality and well as very tasty. This is important because it is such an important part of the day as well as many student’s favorite part of the day with their friends.
