On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, a 16 year old in Colorado shot at students in Evergreen High School, shooting two and leaving a community of heartbreak and chaos. He reloaded his handgun multiple times as he went to find “targets”.
One student was shot inside the school and the other was shot outside the school. Officers arrived to the scene in 2 minutes. The school is three levels, leaving an expansive crime scene and expansive space for officers to lock down.
At the time of the attack the school’s Resource Officer was on “medical leave”. A separate officer was assigned to the school and was present on Wednesday morning but was not present at the time of the shooting.
Investigators are examining the shooters online activity in order to find a motive. The motive is suspected to be some part of an extremist group and he consistently engaged in violent content online. His online activity shared neo-Nazi views. He watched lots of gore on WatchPeopleDie, a pattern present in at least four shootings in the past year. On this website he commented on posts about shootings in Parkland, Buffalo, and at a Quebec City mosque. Several mass shooters have been active on this website. He also made multiple comments on TikTok about streaming an upcoming act of violence. Just hours before the attack, he posted an image of a revolver. To the shooting, he wore a shirt (he made himself) of which mimicked a shirt worn in the Columbine Shooting in 1999.
The shooter died of a self inflicted wound. Evergreen High School will remain closed for the week. The community begins to move forward in healing ‘Evergreen Strong.’ A vigil was held on Thursday where families gathered to make sense of the situation and get through the rough period together.
