Denver, known for its beautiful views and outdoor activities, doesn’t generally get enough attention regarding the vast variety of restaurants and cuisines it offers.
Today, my opinion regarding the best restaurant in Denver is Atelier by Radex. Atelier mainly offers French cuisine and various special dishes daily.
Atelier isn’t a chain; it isn’t widely known and is a one-of-a-kind. Mixing traditional French and other cuisines makes their conventional dishes much better. The restaurant is small and has an open kitchen concept, inviting those dining there to be more in tune with the chefs and the dishes they are making. Every dish Atelier offers is made with incredible passion and effort. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection.
I will remind those that Atelier offers traditional French, not the Americanized version most people think of.
Yes, they have phenomenal Escargot, and they make some killer steak frites, but the real flavor is in the dishes that you can’t find anywhere except France and Atelier. A great example of the cultural mix they incorporate into their dishes, and my favorite dish, is the Filet Tartare.
They serve the Filet Tartare traditionally with some slices of bread, quail egg, and some vegetables, but take it up a notch by adding a tiny bit of Frank’s Red Hot sauce that you can add when creating your little Steak Tartare combination. Not only is the steak seasoned and mixed perfectly, but all of the ingredients used to make the dish are fresh, and the flavors explode in your mouth.
Another example is the Crab Au Gratin, a piece of bread as a base, lump crab, au gratin cheese, and to top it off, a not so traditional jalapeno. The dish is incredible, the traditional lump crab and au gratin mixed with the jalapeno makes the dish that much better.
When it comes to the main course, the variety of fresh meats and seafood they use to create signature dishes like the Beef Tournedos or the bouillabaisse enhance the rich traditional mix of French flavors one would unexpectedly enjoy.
I will warn, the restaurant is pricey, but you get what you p[ay for. The money is simply worth the delicious taste of each and every dish they offer. Words simply cannot describe the incredible flavors each and every dish Atelier has to offer. Please, go and support the best French restaurant in the state.
