Following the coveted Stanley Cup being hoisted above the winning team’s heads in early June to the time the puck drops again in October, your favorite NHL players spend their summer like any other person. Let’s take a look at some of the players offseason adventures…
It’s a well-known fact that hockey players tend to like golf. Players from all around the league spend their offseason time getting together at the course. Red Wings Alex Debrincat, Capitals Dylan Strome, Islanders Adam Boqvist, and AHL player MacKenzie Entwistle took a trip to North Carolina’s Pinehurst golf resort. Some more players spent their summer on the green: Carolinas Mike Reilly, Nashville’s Brady Skjei, and Torontos Vinni Lettieri got together for a round.
Several NHL players have tied the knot this offseason. Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl got married to actor Celeste Desjardins in France, with Captain Connor McDavid in attendance. Following lifting the Stanley Cup Florida Panthers Matthew Tkachuk spent his offseason in Saint Louis marrying his wife all well spending his day with the Cup.
The part players cherish the most about the offseason is the uninterrupted time their able to spend with their families. The Flames Blake Coleman and Sabres Tage Thompson spent some time at the Happiest Place on earth with their wives and kids. Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner spent some time with his family in the wild. Long time teammates Eric Johnson, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen hung out on the coast of Italy.
The training doesn’t stop in the 4-month long offseason, they still make time to get on the ice and in the weight room. Sabres defenseman Zach Benson, Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal, Blackhawks center Connor Bedard worked on fine tuning on ice skills to be ready for the season. Flames Klapka, Blue Jackets Merzlikins, Red Wings Edvinsson, and Avalanche Necas spent time in the weight room when taking time off the ice. Teammates and Players from around the league work together to be the best they can be for the upcoming season. Long time friends Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby got together with the new players like the Sharks Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith for some on ice sessions to work on their skills and learn from the best in the league.
Don’t worry hockey will be back in October but for now the off-season adventures of your favorite players will have to be enough.
