Breaking news today in the NBA world, where the Denver Nuggets just fired coach Michael Malone and GM Calvin booth
Coach Michael Malone Will not be getting another opportunity at another championship. With the Nuggets only having three games left in the regular season Coach Malone was fired and general manager Calvin Booth’s contract would not be extended. The team is currently in fourth place in the Western Conference and has lost four games in a row. It is to be noted this was Malone’s fourth longest tenure coaching in the NBA.
Here is what team president Josh Kroenke said in a statement.
“This decision was not made lightly and was evaluated very carefully, and we do it only with the intention of giving our group the best chance at competing for the 2025 NBA Championship and delivering another title to Denver and our fans everywhere,” ( according to Denver Gazette) Malone had been with the Nuggets for 10 seasons and even led them to an NBA championship in 2023. Despite his success, the team’s leadership felt that changes were needed to give them the best chance at winning another title. Assistant coach David Adelman will take over as interim head coach. The decision was not made lightly, but the team hopes this shakeup will help them perform better in the postseason
