Excitement is building at Holy Family High School as the girls’ golf team gears up for an exhilarating season in the 3A League. After competing in the 4A division last year, the team is eager to prove themselves in a more focused competition of just 16 teams. With a roster filled with talent, determination, and camaraderie, the Tigers are aiming for nothing less than a state championship.
Leading the charge are seniors Fiona and Finley Holmes, along with Gabby Brienza. These three experienced players bring both skill and leadership to the team. For Finley, the season is about more than winning. “I’m most excited about the team itself,” she shared. “We’re all really close and super supportive of one another. That’s what makes us special.”
Gabby is equally optimistic and confident. “We’re hoping to win state this year because we’re the best team in 3A,” she declared with a grin, rallying her teammates around their spirited motto: “We Dem Tigers!”
The Tigers’ roster is packed with talent beyond the senior trio, with skilled golfers like Steffi Heitz, Peyton Mraz, Bella Scarpero, Danikka Nielsen, Acadia Curtis, Emma Grycel, Ava Benallo, Sofia Barloco, Reese Erenzen, Ivy Johnson, Sakura Gardner, and Makenna Showe. This well-rounded group shares not just a love for golf but a deep bond that fuels their success.
Transitioning to the 3A League has invigorated the team. Practices are filled with energy, as the players push each other to refine their swings and master the greens. Their collective determination is evident in their performance during early tournaments, where they’ve already started to make waves and draw attention from rival teams.
As the state championships loom closer, the Tigers remain focused on their goal. Their strength lies not just in their individual talents but in their unity. Each player contributes to the team’s success, whether by sinking a crucial putt or offering words of encouragement.
