After this weekends CrossFit Competition I decided to Interview Abby Moore, who made her professional CrossFit debut at the National Western Complex, to see how it went and what she accomplished. This is how it went:
Q: If you were to explain CrossFit to a person who had never heard of it what would you tell them?
A: “I would tell them that it’s a combination of gymnastics movements, weightlifting, and endurance. It’s also called functional fitness or just like Google it.”
Q: What was your accomplishment this weekend?
A: “This weekend I went pro for the first time in the adults category, I have competed as an age group athlete since I was 14 but now I’m aged out, and had to transition to the adults.”
Q: How did you feel before going into the competition this weekend?
A: “Going into this weekend I was excited to compete because I love competitions, and getting to rest where I am at, especially leading into my first pro CrossFit Games season.”
Q: How did you feel leaving?
A: “Leaving this weekend I am happy, yet definitely ready to improve, and continue to get better, especially at things I am not good at.”
Q: What were your best events?
A: “My best events were a max clean, I won and had a 15lb PR and won the event, I also really liked the last event, where I got 2nd, and surprised myself, that workout was deadlines handstand walking and box jump overs.”
Q: What were your worst events?
A: “My worst workout was the first 5th workout, I hurt my hand right before the event started, and it threw me off, and I did way better when I practiced, which was kinda sad.”
Q: How did you feel competing against adults?
A: “Competing against adults was definitely different than kids my own age, just because they have so much more experience, and knowledge of the sport, and also have been doing it for much longer than I have, but everyone was super nice, and I learned a lot.”
Q: What did you place?
A: “I got 5th, and won an event.”
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: “The CrossFit season just got redone, so it’s a little unclear on what it will look like this year, but I hope to make semifinals, which is a round of in-person competition leading up to the crossfire games. Now my age division is 18-35 so it will be a hard year with lots of learning yay.”
