The 2024 World Series between two of the most arguably storied franchises in the Major League Baseball take off with a banger.
Game 1 was a thriller going into extra innings after a rollercoaster in the 9th inning. Yankees are up first in the top of the 10th and come up empty. Bottom of the 10th the Yankees intentionally walk Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman next up at bat. Bases loaded Freddie loads up and sends the ball out of the park.
Dodgers take Game 1 from a walk-off grand slam by Freddie Freeman and their batting momentum carried into Game 2.
In Game 2, the Dodgers got out ahead early scoring 1 in the second and 3 in the third, Freeman with another home run. The Yankees scoring one in the third. Entering the 9th the score is still 4-1 and Yankees manage to score one but it wasn’t enough and the Dodgers start rolling with a 2-0 lead.
Game 3 was similar to Game 2 with Dodgers coming out on fire scoring two runs in the first inning, one in the third and one in the 6th. The Yankees were left scoreless up until the 9th inning where they scored two runs, losing 4-2. Dodgers take a 3-0 lead with a sweep in view.
The Yankees coming into Game 4 have a .186 batting average which is very low and with that average makes it nearly impossible to win.
First inning of Game 4, Freddie Freeman makes history with another home run resulting in two runs for the Dodgers. Freeman is the first player to ever have a home run in six consecutive world series games looking back at his two in 2021 for the Atlanta Braves.
But this time, the Yankees bounce back with a few single runs, and a massive grand slam from the young shortstop Anthony Volpe.
Yankees and Dodgers play tonight in Game 5, we’ll see if the Yankees can use their momentum to take the series to Game 6, no other team that has been down 0-3 has sent the series to six games.
