History has been made in the NBA. Lebron James Sr. and Bronny James Jr. have played their first official game together. Lebron is in his 22nd season which is incredible by itself, let alone his son playing in his first season for the Lakers.
This is the first time ever that we get to see a father and son as teammates for the same team. There hasn’t even been a father and son in the league at the same time.
In the first game of the regular season these two helped the team come to a win over the solid Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103. Lebron scored 16 points on 7-16 shooting, and Bronny unfortunately did not score in his first game, playing only three minutes.
Although, he didn’t score the moment that occurred is worth more than any amount of points could.
Bronny played a solid preseason, it wasn’t the best but definitely could be worse. Some good games and some bad games, but that is basketball he has high potential for a young rookie entering the league.
What we are seeing this year may be the only time this happens for a long time, for a son and dad to play in the NBA on the same team since June, 1946 when the NBA was created. So for this to happen again in my lifetime would be rare with the 1 out of 79 seasons.
Bronny Jr. and Lebron Sr. will have more minutes once Bronny has adapted to the speed and physicality of the NBA, he is only 20 years old playing against men that have been in the league for years and bodies are more adapted.
But, once Lebron retires I can see a high chance of Lakers releasing Bronny in a trade or wait until his contract is up to release him on free agency.
This year is going to be a interesting season to see how the Lakers involve Bronny into there flow of offense and become a role player.
