The NFL is six weeks in and so far we have seen some big moves out of teams to make a mid-season run for the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Some teams are trading to win and some are now trading to prepare for the future. This week was the first week of actually moves sense the season has begun.
The biggest move of the year has to be Devonte Adams going from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets. This happened Tuesday morning, three weeks after Adams had requested a trade after an apparent leg injury. Adams is returning to his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers who played together for the Green Bay Packers for eight seasons. This was a big move for them because they fell to 2-4 this week and need to start winning to make the playoffs. They have a short window with Rodgers’ career coming to and end of his career so they are making moves to win now.
Along with this earlier this week on Tuesday the Buffalo Bills traded for Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. This was a big move for the Bills because it gave them a new starting wide receiver. They will look to continue winning by adding him as a new threat for Josh Allen in the passing game. So far they have looked good on the year without a distinct WR1 and will almost certainly improve with this new addition.
Two other smaller moves have been made this week with the Minnesota Vikings trading for running back Cam Akers — for a second time in two years, and the Seattle Seahawks trading for defensive end Roy-Robertson-Harris. The Vikings added Akers to back up their starter Aaron Jones and add depth to their roster. The Seahawks similar to the Vikings also added Roy for depth to help them throughout there season.
Throughout the year many more trades will go down in the NFL before the trade deadline on Week 9 November 5th.
