Last week the senior class went on a two-day retreat to Boondocks and Mother Cabrini Shrine.
Day 1: Boondocks
On the first day of the retreat, the senior class went to Boondocks to go bowling, go-carts, mini golf, and other activities. Boondocks was a day for the seniors to have a fun day out of class and leave behind the stress of grades and college choices. It allowed the senior class to have a day to cherish their time remaining before the end of the year. Overall the class had a lot of fun here with the majority highlight of the day being the go-carts.
Day 2: Mother Cabrini Shrine
On the second day of the Retreat, the seniors went up to Mother Cabrini Shrine for a spiritual reflection. The class started with Mass up in the chapel. After that, the school brought in multiple guest speakers to talk to us about a future in faith. Many of the Guests were Holy Family Alumni, who talked about how they applied their faith in their college life. The speakers were able to relate well to us because they were once where were on this retreat. Over the day the speakers touched on how important faith is in college and how it is something you can lean on in stressful situations. The seniors got to talk to the Campus Ministry director from Colorado State University. She talked to the seniors about how accessible campus ministry is to all the students and how much of a tool it is for students to use. Lastly, they were able to talk to a recently graduated student who is pursuing a career in professional golf. He talked to us about how he was able to use golf, a hobby of his, to get closer to God and how we can use our hobby to connect with God.
Overall the Senior Retreat was a good chance for our seniors to spend time together during their last year, and learn about how our faith will stay with us throughout our whole life.
