Have you ever been in the parking lot after school and wondered what the heck was going on.
Well guess what, there is a potential solution to the Holy Family traffic nightmare.
There are students who live in a 2-mile radius of the school. A solution to HF traffic, where it takes at least 10 minutes or more to exit the parking lot and get on to 144 Avenue, would be scooters or bikes.
If you live in a 2-mile radius, you could help the whole school by either biking or scootering to school. It is true that its not the most ideal way of traveling to school because you can get sweaty and in the winter it’s impossible, but we would benefit because it would make less traffic in the circle and the parking lot.
This would help because there would be less cars in the parking lot and we would be polluting less. The lines wouldn’t get so long and it wouldn’t take 10 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
Another proposed solution would be different dismissal times. This would mean that seniors would leave at 1:20, juniors at 1:30, sophomores at 1:40, and freshmen at 1:50.
The problem with this solution is that classes with more than one class (Senior, Junior, etc.) would have to end early because a teacher can’t just teach half a class or maybe less. Another problem would be that access would either have to be put later or taken out. There is also sports that would result in many complications with dismissal times.
This probably isn’t the best solution but there is no great solution. The reality is our parking lot is made very badly and there is no good way to fix the traffic problem. The best that can be done is that people learn to drive, to be perceptive of your surroundings and to not stop in the middle of the circle or on the side of the street after turning at the traffic light.
