Olympic Recap

The 2024 Olympics was a success for the United States, winning 126 total medals putting them in 1st place for medals won. 40 golds which ties in with China, 44 silver, and 42 bronzes, the track and field unit dominated the Paris Olympics.

They showed their dominance by winning 34 medals, the most won by United States track and field since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

USA’s Noah Lyles took gold in the 100m sprint running a 9.79 and only 0.005 seconds and USA’s Fred Kerley took bronze running a 9.81. It was truly a race to remember.

Team USA won many golds in track and field, Quincy Hall’s epic comeback in the 400m, Gabby Thomas 200m, Cole Hocker’s Olympic record 1,500m, Grant Holloway 110m hurdle, Rai Benjamin 400m hurdle, Olympic record in the men 4x400m relay, Masai Russel 100m hurdle, Sydney McLaughlin world record 400m hurdle, women 4x100m relay, and the women 4x400m relay all took gold in this year’s Olympic track and field event.

The USA men and women’s basketball team both won gold with the women dominating and holding their streak of no losses since 1992. The men’s team had a close semi-final game against the Joker and Serbia, but came out victorious and went on to the play France on their home court.

Led by Steph Curry and Lebron James they took gold with James getting the Olympic games MVP.

One of the biggest embarrassments of the Olympic games. In the newly added breakdancing competition Australia’s break dancer Rachael Gunn had a performance to remember. It was awful to watch and she has received critics about the performance.

Rachael put in the dedication to make the Olympics and came out with a dance like that, watching that was shocking, it was a joke that was a surprise.

Overall, the summer 2024 Paris Olympic Games was a very entertaining and competitive Olympics, it brought out the athletes fire for the sport and pushing past their limits.
